1:00 pm - I had to do some laundry and took a book with me to the laundromat. I picked the lightest book I had which was the Spectacular Now, and I read around 30 pages of it while my clothes was in the washer.

I'm kicking off 2017 with a readathon! I don't know if that's a good idea, because last year's attempt was not good. I attempted Bout of Books last year around the same time, and I completely failed. Like really bad. I'm hoping this year I can do a lot better. I don't know what books I want to read, but there are a few that I'll probably end up choosing from. Once again I'm participating in Bout of Books. The first one I participated in was the one in January last year and it was the first time I really got involved the blogging community, and I also did pretty well with the amount that I read.

I didn't participate in Bout of Books 14 and I didn't do as well as I'd hoped for in Bout of Books 13. Maybe it's the time of the year, but for some reason I read a lot last January.

I usually do a post for each day, but this time I'm just doing one post for the whole week. I'm also not picking out books except for my TBR jar pick which was Winger. I don't know if I'll be participating in the daily challenges, but that was one of my favorite parts of it the first time.

There hasn't been much to update on. I started reading Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass on my Kindle, and I read a few pages more of A Court of Thorns and Roses. I'm planning on finishing Yaqui Delgado on Day 6, and then just reading as much as I can of ACOTAR the rest of Day 6 and then probably into Day 7. Not much else going on. I'm going to continue with the updates. I liked doing this yesterday. I don't have to work today which means I have the time to read. Aside from Friday I don't really have any days off before the readathon is over, so I need to try to read as much when I have the time.

1:30 am I read 70 pages of The Start of Me and You. I'm definitely finishing this today. Anyways, I'm going to bed now. I'll read more in the morning.
12:15 pm I finished The Start of Me and You. I liked it a lot more than I thought I was going to. Now I don't know what I want to read next. I want to go to the library. Actually, I have to go to the library to return the overdue book.
2:35 pm I went to the library and got Mosquitoland, Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, In Real Life, and Chew, Vol. 1. I'll probably read both of the graphic novels this week.
11:48 pm Finished Chew, Vol. 1 and started In Real Life.

I thought I would try something a little different with today's update. I usually write these up at the end of the day, but today I thought I would track my day's progress throughout the day.

11:30 am I linked up my Day 1 on the Bout of Books page, and I visited/commented on other blogs.

Okay, so I didn't read as much as I wanted to. Also, this book is now overdue. I'm really hoping this readathon isn't going to continue like this for me. I don't have to work tomorrow, so I'll probably finish it, and then I'll go down to the library to return it. Maybe I'll pick some more books up for the readathon. Like I need more.

Bout of Books 13 | Day 1

The first day of the Bout of Books readathon is over. I'm a little nervous about this week, because I picked up more hours at work. I'm just going to have to find the time. Anyways, at midnight I started reading A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. I just bought this and I was/am really excited to read it, but I only got 8 pages into it. Then I remembered I had a book, The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord, from the library that I have to return on Tuesday, so I should have probably started with that one. I read some of it at work during my lunch break and then I read a little bit more at home. That's pretty much it for day one. I have to work tomorrow, but not until later in the day so hopefully I get some reading in before work.

I'm participating in Bout of Books again! I went in with really low expectations last time since it was my first one and I ended up reading a total of 5 books. Like last time I'm not going to pick out books ahead of time. I'm just going to read as much as I can. I'm also not going to set a goal, but it would be pretty cool if I could pass my record of 5 books or 1,474 pages from the previous Bout of Books.

Bout of Books 12: Day 7/Wrap Up

Here is my wrap up and how my last day of the read-a-thon went. I managed to finish reading the last 211 pages of Losing Hope. I finished it with about 10 minutes left in the day. That's pretty much it. I didn't think I was going to be able to get that last book, but I made it.

I enjoyed all the books I read. There wasn't a moment with any of the books where I felt like I didn't want to keep reading. This is only the second read-a-thon I've participated in, but it definitely motivated me to participate in more.

Bout of Books 12: Day 4

I finished reading The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate (who wrote the Animorphs series) and illustrated by Patricia Castelao. This is a middle grade book based/inspired by the true story of a gorilla of the same name. There was a documentary done on Ivan in 1992. You can watch a clip of it here. He was eventually moved to Zoo Atlanta, and passed away in 2012.

Later that night I started reading The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I didn't read much of it, but I'm really liking it so far.

Day 2 was a little better than day 1. I finished reading The DUFF and started Teen Angst? Naaah... by Ned Vizzini. It's a collection of short stories that tell about Vizzini's life throughout high school. I'm really enjoying it. I'll finish it today (Day 3) and move on to either The One and Only Ivan or The Naturals.

Bout of Books 12: Day 1

I decided to start Bout of Books with a book I had been wanting to read when I heard it was being turned into a movie, The DUFF by Kody Keplinger. I borrowed it from the library, and it's due soon so I thought it would be a good idea to read it for the read-a-thon.

I worked pretty much the entire day. I tried reading a bit during my lunch break, but it wasn't much. When I got home I read some more for a total of 122 pages. I'm planning on finishing it today, Day 2, and picking up Teen Angst? Naaah... by Ned Vizzini. I'll either post my day 2 tonight or tomorrow. Is anyone else participating in the read-a-thon? Bout of Books 12

I'm going to be participating in the Bout of Books read-a-thon for the first time. The only read-a-thon I've attempted before is the Booktubeathon. That didn't go very well for me, but I thought I would I try one again. I don't want to pick out books ahead of time. I think that's what hurt me last time because by the time I got to a specific book, I just didn't feel like reading it anymore. I just want to read as much as possible.
