October
I finally finished reading this. I started it back in May and kept putting it down, but my sister read it and loved it so that motivated me to finish. Overall I enjoyed it even though there were parts that I felt dragged on and slowed the pace of the novel down. 4/5
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I loved this book. It was defnitely one of my favorites of 2015. I'm so glad I picked up a copy at BookCon. Read the full review here. 5/5
November
The only book I finished in November, and it was just okay. This is my fourth Colleen Hoover book and I can see some of the same sort of themes and traits throughout her books. I've read other authors that have the same tendencies, but the stories do enough for me that I don't mind. That wasn't really the case for Confess. I liked it and nothing more. Not bad, but not my favorite of hers. 3/5
December
Rat Queens, Vol. 1: Sass & Sorcery by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Roc Upchurch
I knew nothing about this before I started reading it. I bought it without knowing what it was even about. I had just heard people talking about it on booktube and I liked the art that I saw, so I bought it. I loved the characters, and overall story. 5/5
Lumberjanes, Vol. 2: Friendship to the Max by Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, Shannon Watters, Brooke Allen, Maarta Laiho
I got this for Christmas. I love the art in Lumberjanes and this volume didn't disappoint. I like how the storyline and characters are growing and progressing. Excited to read the next volume. 5/5
Ms. Marvel, Vol. 3: Crushed by G. Willow Wilson, Mark Waid, Takeshi Miyazawa, Elmo Bondoc, Humberto Ramos
I think this is my favorite volume of Ms. Marvel so far. Kamala is developing as a person and superhero. I'm planning on getting volume 4 with one of the gift cards I got for Christmas. 5/5
Giant Days, Vol. 1 by John Allison and Lissa Treiman
This is another comic that I got for Christmas. I liked the art and the characters in the story, but maybe because it was the first volume and it's more character focused than the other comics I've read I didn't get into it as fast as I had hoped. 4/5
Morning Glories, Vol. 1: For A Better Future by Nick Spencer and Joe Eisma
This was one of those that I had seen or heard about somewhere on a blog or booktube. I saw it at the library the place I usually get books that I'm on the fence about. I had no idea what this was about at all. I'm glad I went into it not knowing anything. I loved this. A pleasant surprise. My library has the second volume and I'm definitely going back for it. 5/5
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
I had heard so much about this series, but honestly I did not expect to love it as much as I do. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books. I am definitely picking up the next book. 5/5

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
TBR Jar Pick
If you didn't see my 2016 Reading Goals, basically what I said was that I wanted to attempt a TBR jar for the year of 2016.
Technically I don't have a jar. I put the slips of paper in one of the bags from the Fandom of the Month boxes. I picked out a slip yesterday and I got Six of Crows! I forgot that I put that in there. I'm already reading that, so I did it again and I got Winger by Andrew Smith.
No matter what, I'm hoping to at least read/finish Winger and Six of Crows in January. Also there is Bout of Books starting tomorrow. I'll have an update post for that. I don't know what books I'll be reading, but Winger will be at least one of them. I'm going to try to stay up to date with my monthly wrap ups (as long as I'm actually reading something every month). Check back this week for my Bout of Books updates. They'll all be in one post. Good luck to everyone with their TBRs this month!
Lots of great comics in December! I need to pick-up the second volume of Lumberjanes. I really enjoyed the first one. Giant Days is one I'm thinking about checking out. I'm glad to see you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with Bout of Books this year!
Thank you! I didn't read that many books, but at least I got some great comics in.
DeleteI'm so glad to see that you really liked Illuminae! It ended up being my favorite book of 2015. I loved how uniquely it was written.

I loved the style it was told in too. It worked really well for this book.
