TOP TEN TUESDAY: New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.
This week's theme is Top Ten New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015.
I haven't done a TTT since September, so I thought why not try another one.

Illuminae is the first book I've read by either of these authors. I loved this book so much and the style that was written in.

I loved the story and the characters in her debut novel, Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda. It reminded me a lot of Rainbow Rowell's style and how easily you fall in love with her characters.

I read Snow Like Ashes back in February and loved Meira as a main character, quickly becoming one of my favorite heroines in YA. I still have to read the sequel Ice Like Fire.

A lot of times contemporaries can become a bit redundant. It seems like the same sort of characters in a moderately different situations. In The Start of Me and You, Emery Lord created a story that dealt with topics that can get a little serious without making it too heavy.

I had heard of Patrick Ness before, but this was the first year I had read anything of his, The Rest of Us Just Live Here. I love books that deviate from the traditional and take a new approach on Young Adult.

I met Nicola Yoon at BookCon back in May and she was so nice, not just to me, but everyone that came through her line. Everything, Everything was a great book, although there were a couple of things that held it back for me, what I loved was the writing. I hope she writes another contemporary soon, so that I can get more of what I loved so much of Everything, Everything.

Noelle Stevenson is a part of the group that put together Lumberjanes and debuted her first graphic novel, Nimona, this year. I first read Nimona this year which she wrote and created herself-- it was originally a web comic.

I read The Naturals for Bout of Books earlier this year, and it was the perfect book for a readathon. It was fast paced, and thrilling-- basically I loved it. I need to read the second book, Killer Instinct, soon. The third book, All In, is already out.

Half Bad had a lot of hype surrounding it when it first came out, because of the comparisons to Harry Potter which can never be a good thing in my opinion. Initially it's great because a lot of people become interested, but in the end it's only bound for disappointment because so many readers have such a special tie to the series. I went in oblivious to the hype (also I haven't read Harry Potter), and ended up loving it.

Well, that's it. The only sort of problem I see with my Top Ten is that aside from Noelle Stevenson, I've only read one book by each of these authors. They've instantly become favorite authors based off the books I've read, but I really hope it doesn't change as I read more of their work.

Which authors are on your top ten this week? Do we have any of the same ones?

    1. I knew what some of them looked like, but for the others it was funny finally putting a face to the work...even though their pictures are in the back of the books.
