Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.
The theme this week is Ten Hyped Books I've Never Read. As I compiled the list, I realized that it was a list of hyped series that I've never read/completed.
When these books first came out I didn't really care for them. Even when the movies were still being released in theaters, I still didn't really care. Recently I've been wanting to read them more and more. I don't think I'll get to them any time soon, but one day, hopefully.
Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan
This is another series loved by many people that I just never really got into. I own all the books in this series, and I've read the first one. I didn't love it, so I'm in no rush to get to the other ones, but I did enjoy it enough that I want to some time get to them.
The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
I've actually read the first book in this series, but it wasn't until it was announced that it would be made into a TV show. I'll slowly, but surely be making my way through the series.
The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken
I've attempted to read this book a couple of times, but never really got into it. I'll be giving this another try soon.
The Selection series by Keira Cass
The premise of the books is something that doesn't really interest me. There have been a couple of times where I've heard/read people raving about the book that it's peaked my interest, but then I read the synopsis and realize it's just not something that I would enjoy.
The Raven Boys series by Maggie Stiefvater
I started listening to this on audiobook, but I quickly realized audiobooks are not for me. I was really enjoying the book, but I couldn't continue listening to it. I don't know what it is, but I can't have other people read to me. Anyways, I hope to pick this one up again soon.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor
I wouldn't really consider this one hyped, but the people who have read it really enjoy it. I don't really know much about it, but I want to keep it that way going into this book.
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
After the whole Twilight thing died down, I couldn't see myself reading another YA vampire book. I've been putting off reading this series because of that reason, but maybe one day I'll pick it up.
The Martian by Andy Weir
This is more of a recent one. I wanted to pick it up before I had heard much about it, but never got the chance. Then as time went on more and more people were reading it and loving it. Now I'm hoping to get to it before the movie.
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
I put down Mistborn, but really it's any Brandon Sanderson book. I'm slightly intimidated to start reading his books, but I really want to read them. People don't just really like Sanderson's novels, they love them. I want to too!
The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've only read the first book. I really enjoyed it. I think it's worth checking out, but if you are that unsure I'd go with the library.
The Raven Boys series by Maggie Stiefvater
I recently started this series, (reading the third book right now) While the first book starts off really slow. It's totally worth picking up. I love love love this series now.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor
I can understand your reservations in picking this series up. But I'd say it's worth it. The writing is so beautiful and amazing. And it really is best knowing next to nothing about this series going into it.
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
I'd give this one a shot. I hate Twilight so much. The most boring watered down Vampires that have ever graced the pages of a book. VA is completely different.
Also, here is my TTT:

I'm most likely going to pick up the Raven Boys really soon since I was enjoying it. I actually picked up an ARC copy of The Darkest Minds at BookCon this year so I'll probably be giving it another chance.
DeletePercy Jackson was a hilarious series, and I hope you can get to it soon. Harry Potter was also so creative and mystical, it is my favourite series.
ReplyDeleteI want to read them so I don't feel so out of the loop when people talk about them. Especially Harry Potter.
DeleteMEEP I definitely hope you get to Harry Potter! It's definitely an all-time favorite for me. Pretty much allll of the rest of the books you have on here are on my TBR as well. Cute site, btw! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm hoping to get to it sometime this year. At least the first few books.
DeleteYes you need to read Harry Potter and Percy Jackson! They're both some of the greatest series of all time, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteGreat list, Emma! <33
Thanks! Yeah, I need to get on that soon.
